Atelier PRO winner of WAN Healthcare Award 2018!

Atelier PRO is the winner of the WAN Award Healthcare 2018 for its design of Scheldehof Residential Care Centre, Vlissingen!

Comfortable living environment instead of an institution
Scheldehof is a residential care centre from WVO Zorg health care service provider. It is established in a former metal industrial factory on a former shipyard site and not only meets contemporary living - and care facilities standards.

Dorte Kristensen, architect, and Thijs Klinkhamer, interior architect: “Our aim was to make the residents feel comfortable and at home. Therefore we put a lot of effort in creating a pleasant living environment, instead of an institution.”

Open to the public
The industrial character has been preserved internally as well as externally after the transformation process. By adding public functions Scheldehof is also open to the public.Thus, a lively social and spatial landmark has arisen in the former shipyard area.

Several nominations
The Scheldehof project have been nominated several times so far. It was credited with the Dutch Architectenweb  award for Best Healthcare Building of the Year 2018. It was nominated for the Gouden Piramide 2018 for inspiring commissioning, the STiB award 2018 (prize for the most successful area reinforcement enhancing the vitality and dynamics of the city or village), Vastgoedjournaal Zorgvastgoed of the Year 2018 (Healthcare building of the year 2018).

Winning the WAN award for Best healthcare Project 2018 is a proof of performance that makes the team extremely proud!
