From bottle bank to science: recycled low carbon glass for RDC ADORE

In our façade design for RDC ADORE of the Amsterdam UMC, we opted for low-carbon glass; in the production of this innovative glass, maximum use is made of recycled glass cullet, which - together with energy-saving measures - reduces CO2 emissions by 40 per cent.

Initially, this type of glass was not foreseen, but the high level of sustainability ensured that the client not only chose this material, but also embraced it enthusiastically. A total of 3,200 metres of low-carbon glass were used in the façade of RDC ADORE; this helped to make the building 25 per cent more sustainable than the current requirements for new buildings.
