The International School The Hague

A school as an estate

a learning and living environment for the international community

The International School The Hague

The International School The Hague (ISH) provides a learning and living environment for children from 0 to 18 years of age. There are over 1000 students representing 60 nationalities. The size of the school (15,000 m² gfa) which can be compared to the international school in Eindhoven, offers good opportunities to provide full-fledged central facilities but does call for the introduction of a smaller scale level.
The specifications include a Playgroup, a Primary, a Middle and Lower and an Upper-House. This refinement is necessary for the quality of the education. The house gives the individual student a secure personal space that suits the phase of development belonging to that age group.

The Plaza is situated in the centre of the building. This high-roofed area is the lynchpin of the organization and functions as the central entrance, the learning centre and meeting hall. In addition, the school presents itself here to the international community by organizing courses, international demonstrations and cultural events.

In comparison with the Dutch educational system, the international school places greater importance on specific practical rooms. Therefore specific areas have been designed here for music, drama, art, media and science and there are also a number of sport fields on the grounds.
