From glass bin to science: recycled low carbon glass for RDC ADORE

In our façade design for RDC ADORE at the Amsterdam UMC, we opted for low carbon glass; the production of this innovative glass focuses on the use of recycled glass fragments (in technical terms: cullet), which - together with energy-saving measures - reduces CO2 emissions by 40 percent.

Initially, this type of glass was not provided, but the high degree of durability meant that the client not only chose this material, but also embraced it enthusiastically. A total of 3,200 meters of low carbon glass were used in the facade of RDC ADORE; partly because of this, the building is 25 percent more sustainable than the current new construction requirements.
