Take care of your heart for World Heart Day!
This Sunday, September 29, is World Heart Day. For Meander medical center, atelier PRO has been working in recent years on a new wing for the CCU department — the Coronary Care Unit, a highly specialized department where cardiac care is central.
What is particularly important for a Coronary Care Unit is the link between medical intervention on the one hand and nursing on the other. Patients in a heart department need specific aftercare after surgery, where they must be continuously monitored. In addition to Hotfloors — ORs with the associated technology and support rooms — the new wing also includes a nursing ward. All patients in that nursing ward have a single room with a private bathroom - and that is certainly not standard in a hospital. We also designed the CCU patient rooms so that they all have large windows to the outside and are surrounded by greenery, giving patients a beautiful and relaxing view.
What is also special about the new wing is the hybrid OK. One of the three operating rooms has a hybrid design, which, with an area of 90 m², is twice as large as a regular operating room. As a result, a large number of different medical procedures can be performed here - after all, there is more space for different types of equipment. A hanging C-arc was also used here for X-ray images, so that the entire floor - and therefore also the entire workplace - is kept as free as possible.
