Enclosed by 2-storey buildings with a roof, the building is located on a large green lot. Over the years, the surrounding trees have grown into a beautiful green landscape. The wooden vertical façade parts of the MFC follow the rounded shapes of the floor plan and give the Vossener district a contemporary, distinct heart. The Discovery Garden, designed by landscape architect Bureau Niche, reinforces the natural look.
Once inside through the wide glass entrance, you enter the reception hall and central meeting room, which forms the heart of the building over three floors. This is surrounded by the central administration, the cooking studio and the access to the childcare center. This is recognisable by a striking piece of furniture that frames the entrance. The schools also have their own entrance here and, in addition, the lower level of the two primary schools is also accessible from the central entrance. The heart of the schools lies with two playrooms that can be connected. The superstructure classrooms are located directly above these classrooms around the gymnasium.
On the first floor, the communal rooms surround this loft, for example, for music and other creative subjects. At the very top of the second floor, the district association,'t VAC, has been placed as well as the shared staff room.
The municipality of Venlo has a high ambition with regard to the so-called “fresh school package”: Frisse Scholen B. This means high ventilation rates, extra attention to acoustics and lighting and a free height of 3.2 meters in the group rooms. But a lot of attention has also been paid to sustainability. That is why heat/cold storage was chosen to heat and cool the building. A so-called energy roof is planned on the roof, which can be used to generate energy with the help of the sun. As a result of these sustainable measures, the energy bill will be low.
